FACTS SHEET: What the APC-led administration of Malam Nasir El Rufai has done in Kaduna State from 2015 till date on EDUCATION.
1] KDSG distributed 107 brand new motorcycles for school monitoring
2] Renovated of over 400 primary schools in the state
3] Provided over 200,000 sets of classroom furniture to schools across the state
4] Recruited over 4,000 secondary school teachers
5] Recruited over 20,000 qualified primary school teachers
6] In addition, the Government has employed 2,280 science teachers
7] The government has also provided free and compulsory primary and secondary education in the state
8] It has Abolished all forms of levies and PTA charges in all public primary and secondary schools
9] Students in boarding secondary schools are now being fed at a cost of N300 per student daily, an increase from N180 in 2016
10] Renewed and improved scholarship and loan programme for students in tertiary institutions
11] In 2019, the government set aside N2 billion as seed money for the revamped Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board for eligible citizens to access.
12] In 2020, N4.7 billion has been made available for scholarships and loans
13] Federal and state government employees, including workers in the organised private sector, who wish to further their education can access up to N5 million loan, payable over a period of five years at a single digit interest of 8%
14] Government has Sponsored medical students to various Universities abroad including, Cuba, Rwanda and Uganda.
15] Improved teachers’ welfare
16] The complete overhaul of 15 selected historic schools across Kaduna state, including Rimi College, Government Girls Secondary School Kawo, Government Girls Secondary School Zonkwa, Government College Kagoro, Berewa College, Alhudahuda College, Government College Saminaka, Science School Kufena, Queen Amina College. Others are Technical College Kaduna, Government Girls Secondary School Kwoi, Government College Kachia, Technical School Soba and Government Girls Secondary School Giwa.
16] The constructions of new storey buildings in 30 primary schools which have high population density across the state (Rigasa, Kafanchan, Kachia, Agban, Kagoro, FadanKarshi, etc).
17] Procurement and distributions of 5,380 white boards, assorted markers and magnetic dusters valued at N184,598,508.00 to primary and secondary schools, including 1,186 Magnetic Boards.
18] Regular payment of NECO, SSCE/NABTEB examination registration fees .
19] The Government secured full accreditation of the National Universities Commission(NUC) for Twenty (20) Programmes at the Kaduna State University(KASU) in May 2018
20] In February 2020, KASU secured final accreditation for its medical programme, making it a full fledged medical programme, whereby it can graduate fresh doctors with a recognised Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery first degree
21] The State Government, in collaboration with UBEC, provided 105 computers with e-learning soft wares, modem to primary schools in the State
22] It has Provided 575,241 textbooks on the 4-core subjects, including English, Maths, Science and Social Studies as well as Computer Education to secondary schools.
23] Government also provided 12,000 copies of curricula on history and Teachers’ guide and 9,000 copies of Pre-primary Education Curriculum to teachers.
24] Provided 35 Science kits to 35 Junior Secondary Schools
25] 27,000 copies of Lesson Plan were produced for distribution to schools. Likewise, 15,000 copies of Teachers Guide were distributed to support effective Lesson delivery at the total sum of N74,043,562.00.
26] A total of 25,496 old and newly recruited teachers were trained on the teaching of Literacy and Numeracy.
27] Government has trained 150 Quality Assurance Evaluators on whole School Evaluation
28] School Support Officers (SSOs), numbering 420, were trained on their Roles and Responsibilities
29] The administration has trained 495 JSS teachers on Strengthening of Teachers’ English Proficiency (STEP).
30]Six Science Secondary Schools are being constructed at Pambegua (Kubau LGA), Hunkuyi (Kudan LGA), Rigachikun (Igabi LGA), Buruku (Chikun LGA), Jere(Kagarko LGA) and Manchok, Kaura (LGA)
