After a painstaking consultations and  gathering of facts, The leadership of the Kaduna state students(NAKASS) has decided to plead with the students of the closed institutions in southern Kaduna to give the Kaduna State Government a benefit of the doubt.
Series of consultations leads us to the GOC 1 Div, the Director DSS and the Commissioner of Police and they all affirmed that the closure of these Institutions is strictly based on security intelligence not Political reasons as speculated. And they also assured us that these Institutions will be reopened this Month(July) as soon as they are through with the last phase of the Operation Harbin Kunama.
On the 4th May 2017, the SSG, SA Media and the Commissioner of Education also confirmed  in a meeting with NAKASS, the SUG EXCOs of the closed Institutions that the State Government will not relocate any of these Institution as speculated and they assured us that they will be reopened in July as soon as the Security operatives are done with their task.
From our own point of view, with the relative peace in Southern Kaduna, these Institutions should be reopened immediately but since we are not Security operatives, and we do not know the nature of the intelligence they are working on and we do not have the means to guarantee the safety of the Students of those closed Institution, we plead with the Student Leaders and their Followers to give the Government the benefit of the doubt to round up their Security operations in other to reopen these Institutions in good time.
With the resumption of the Degree(B.ed) students in G/Waya and some Students of College of Nursing Kafanchan writing their PTS Exams, we are hopeful and confident that in a few weeks from now, this whole issue will be a thing of the past. Therefore we call upon the entire Kaduna State Students not to take Law into their hands, continue to be Law abiding, channel their grievances through the proper way and in a peaceful manner. And the Students are advised not to allow any Politician to take advantage of the situation and use them for their selfish interest.
We sincerely thank the VC KASU, the Lecturers  and the Commissioner of Education Prof. A J Nok for fulfilling their promise of relocating the Students to continue their first semester in Kaduna pending the reopening of their Campus.
We also plead with HIS Excellency Mal. Nasiru Ahmed Elrufai and the Kaduna State Security Council to see through the plight of these helpless Students whose future is threatened by this menace of insecurity and fast track the ongoing security operations and reopen these Institutions soonest.
NAKASS President
