A man identified as Deus Kabikire, aged between 25-28 years of age, has died instantly after jumping off the sixth floor of Mabirizi building on Kampala road.

According to eyewitnesses, Kabikire shouted for all and sundry to create for him space to enable him fulfill his mission.

“I have seen that man on that building before falling down but I didn’t expect that he could kill himself. This incident was so traumatizing. It will never evaporate from my memory,” said Darius Ssenkeeto, a boda boda rider who was at the scene of crime.

The eyewitnesses provided police with a letter written on a newspaper showing that he has killed himself because of failure to be loved by the girl of his choice.

“I have spent sleepless nights. I have spent days without food because of you,” reads part of the man’s letter.

NSSF management explained then that Annet Ashaba from Ssembabule walked into the building in the morning, proceeded to the 14th floor where was spotted by one of the cleaners trying to jump through the windows next to the lifts and alerted one of the guards.

The Pinnacle security guard stationed at the 14th floor responded to the alert but it was too late to save her life.

Police have since urged frustrated people to seek counselling instead of taking their lives in a brutal manner.
